Where am I now?

I have taken my health into my own hands by not accepting the words from those that are supposed to know how to fix me. They simply don't have an answer. They don't know where it comes from, why it stays nor do they understand how to get rid of it. Why would they? Their training is an ensemble put together by the same people who want to sell you the medicine that they are pushing. There is a reason that they are called Doctors of Medicine. Big Pharma has created an army of soldiers in white coats and it's working ... for them. For many, they are able to sell a magic pill. A quick and sometimes convenient way for you to live your life the way you want to live. It doesn't matter how you live your life or what gets you sick. No need what so ever for you to change your life style. Here have a pill and it will be all better. It's the American way, and it will be to the detriment of us all.

The only main stream options that remain for a guy in my position are to choose from the many new fangled research drugs that either up regulate one thing or down modulate another. They even attempt to use clever analogies to push their product such as "applying the brakes". The body already knows how to do these things and fight off disease, we simply have to give it what it needs to function properly.

I am not doing anything out of the ordinary. I have simply taken a few steps closer to nature and am now giving my body everything that it needs and nothing that it doesn't. Unless the body is too far gone, it will heal. It will rebuild, and I will once again enjoy the status of perfect health. Until then, it will be a rough road. I didn't get sick overnight and it will take time for the body to fight off this disease. Some say 18 months, others think it will take longer. All I know is that for me, right now ... I am on the correct road. I just need to find out where it takes me.

November 8 will mark my second full month of being on the Gerson Therapy. My goal is to be strict on the program for two years. This is the amount of time required for the liver to heal itself. A fully functioning liver is the cornerstone of a fully functioning immune system. By choice, I will be on this diet for the rest of my life.

I've not posted very often recently simply because this regimen takes a lot out of a person. My body can only restore itself if I don't burn up all of its energy. Not to say that there isn't much going on. Quite the contrary, everyday there is something new. A pain on the right side one day, and then the next day there is a pain on the left. The changes that I feel are either really good, or really bad. There is no way to tell for sure, all I can do is think positive and continue down the path that so many before me have taken and won. I won't lie to you, I get scared all the time. But this is my new life. I am eating well, I look great, I'm learning a lot and I am spending time with my family.

Mike, please read Jaquie Davison's book "Cancer Winner". She had melanoma and is still cancer free 34 years and counting and she has had a healthy life with no prescription medications. I believe you will find comfort in reading of the entries she made into her daily journal while on this therapy. She dealt with the fears and pain just like you and you can read how she managed with it all. She is very honest about the healing inflammations and how much extra coffee got her through them, how peppermint tea helped with nausea and stomach discomforts, and many other details that you might find helpful. It is inspiring. God Bless You.

I totally admire you and what you are doing. My husband also has Melanoma...and he is only doing alternative treatments...will it work? who knows, he feels good, looks good and is enjoying his life. Many people think he is crazy. Wishing you the very best!

Take Care,
